Educational Courses and workshops for young minds – Website Redesign

About

The STEAM Generation is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that brings the wonder and excitement of S.T.E.A.M. education (science, technology, engineering, art, mathematics) to children ages 4-14 through a variety of hands-on learning experiences.

Role

UX Designer.

The goal of he project was to redesign the website to create a unified experience for different locations highlighting their main events and also to attract corporate donors and partners

Brainstorming

We had an initial meeting to understand the reason for redesign and what would be the focus areas so that we could prioritize the elements on the home page.

Proposed Sitemap

User Flow Diagram

The user flow diagram helps to come up with the pages a user must interact in order to complete a task on the website. It also helped to visualize as a team that all the feature requirements are met.

Wireframing

Based on the features we decided for the first release we created wireframes using sketch and shared across with the team to get early feedback on the features and functionality.

Brand Guidelines

I created the new brand guidelines with the main focus on the colour pallete and the typography. The goal is to provide a clean, simple and a modern look to the website.

I created a colour pallete that went well with the logo as well as resonated with the brand to create a feeling of energy and enthusiasm for the kids.

For the font, I picked Lato and used different weights to provide a visual hierarchy through out the website.

The logo and the visuals were provided by the client.
